On 11th July, we have 18 volunteers from Scottish and Southern Electricity coming to help us to put up fencing and prepare for the installation of a cattle drinking trough.
Summer is here! And nothing conjures up images of sunshine and the warmth and colour of flowery meadows better than butterflies. But with a large scale loss of habitats, three-quarters of British butterflies are in decline.

In March 2014, the Bishop’s Meadow Trust fenced off some of its land adjacent to the Cemetery to create an orchard. At that time, we invited children from 7 local schools to help in planting the fruit trees which was a great success!
I was walking across the Meadow last week and was pleased to see a Red Kite circling on a thermal overhead.
Kingfishers are small, unmistakable, bright blue and orange birds of slow moving or still water. They fly rapidly, low over water, and hunt fish from riverside perches, occasionally hovering above the water’s surface.

On 21st November, I was a volunteer at the now legendary Bridge Tea, organised by Tessa Trench – and it was great fun!

The 2016 Annual General Meeting of the Bishop’s Meadow Trust will be on Sunday 9th October at the Pentecostal Church, Red Lion Lane, GU9 7QN.
The ground was prepared and the seed sown and now the Meadow’s dedicated wild flower area for bees is beginning to bloom.
At a recent meeting of the Bishop’s Meadow Trust, Jim Munro was elected as the new Chair of the organisation, replacing Vic Green who has done a brilliant job over the past years. Ed Partridge was elected as Vice Chair.
This year, sowing has been delayed by weather and technical problems, but we are going to do our best to have our bee meadow ready for the Britain in Bloom and the South East in Bloom judges to see.
The Floodplain Meadows Partnership has recently launched a new handbook on floodplain meadows called “Beauty and Utility”.
Farnham’s annual charity bike ride will take place this year on Sunday 3rd July, so there is plenty of time to get out that bike and start training!
With agreement from the Bishop’s Meadow Trust, the Environment Agency has started work on creating a fish passage in the River Wey close to the Farnham Gauging Station.

Artist, photographer and local resident Xoanxo Cespon held an exhibition in late September 2015 at the Farnham Museum of a selection of his photos of the Bishop’s Meadow.
On the 26th February 2013, Bishop’s Meadow was selected as a SNCI.
