Work begins on fish passage

With agreement from the Bishop’s Meadow Trust, the Environment Agency has started work on creating a fish passage in the River Wey close to the Farnham Gauging Station. A representative from the Environment Agency commented “this project is part of a wider programme of works to improve the ecological status of our rivers”

Low cost baffles will be installed in the River. These break up the flow of the water and create a depth of water on the face of the weir allowing most fish species to move freely up and down stream. The work should be completed before the end of the week.
