Busy Summer Days on the Meadows

Over the past months, the meadows has seen a increase in the number of people needing the space and freedom that it offers for dog walking, exercise, recreation and as a place to meet friends or relax. Sadly, in one or two areas beside the river’s easy access, some of the young people continue to congregate late into the night which has brought much distress to our neighbours on the other side of the river.

The Board members are doing their best by meeting and talking with those concerned to make them understand the distress they are causing by continuing to gather there.

We hope for success and are working with the local police who are making regular patrols through the meadows.

In recent weeks, many local people have also seen a rise in the number of motorbikes and pony & traps accessing the meadows by various means and thereby contravening the regulations of public footpaths.

Again, with the help of our local police, we are trying to work with those involved, by talking and explaining with the communities they belong to.

To mitigate this problem we are consulting with local contractors and our local councillors about the possibility of installing additional gates. We will update you on this as plans progress.

To help us combat these ongoing problems the police need as much information as possible. This can be done by reporting anti-social behaviour using the 101 phone number or, depending on the situation, the 999 phone number. By working together we'll be able to see the meadows safely enjoyed by all.

We've seen some lovely responses to the Family Trail and a gallery has been included on our website of our young adventurers! It's been great getting the feedback showing it's really been enjoyed. The trail is still available to be downloaded HERE. Please feel free to forward to family and friends and when they have completed the trail they can email a photo to info@bishopsmeadowtrust.com to add themselves to the gallery, see more images here

space2grow, the charity situated adjacent to the Bishop's Meadow, has a few afternoons still available with their "Afternoons on the Acre" initiative. These have proved to be a real success with many families enjoying an afternoon with a difference, you can read more about them here

If you'd like to enjoy your afternoon on the acre with family or friends, you can register your interest now by dropping the space2grow team an email to info@space2grow.space
