AGM 2017 – A Great Meeting!
A small but enthusiastic group of members attended the Bishop’s Meadow Trust AGM on Saturday 7th October 2017. Five Board Members were also present.
Jo Aylwin chaired the meeting on behalf of the Chairman of the Trust and gave an upbeat overview of the main activities of the Trust over the past 12 months. She highlighted the gold award received by the BMT in South and South East in Bloom’s Large Conservation Area category; the successful funding application to the Heritage Lottery Fund and the introduction of cattle onto the Meadow.
BMT Board Member Vic Green, presented more specific information about the cattle project including the need to introduce a water supply to the Meadow. Good practice examples from other floodplain meadows have shown that having cattle on this sort of environment helps to keep weeds in check and encourages wild flower seeds to settle.
Graham Aston BMT’s finance director presented the current financial situation of the Trust. He indicated that the outstanding loan has now reduced to £44,000 with the Trust making repayments of £1,500 per quarter. Overall the financial situation is healthy and thanks were extended to our members, donors and all those who help with fundraising events throughout the year.
